LIVESTOCK EXHIBITOR CODE OF CONDUCT

The Lindsay Exhibition is committed to responsible animal care and treatment. This Code of Conduct outlines what is expected of livestock exhibitors in the handling and exhibiting of all animals involved with the LEX.

This Code has been developed to meet the following objectives:

  • To ensure the health and well being of all animals at the fair
  • To demonstrate an accurate and responsible animal care message to the public
  • To maintain the integrity of all livestock competitions, displays, and sales
  • All animals must be treated and handled in a responsible manner. The well being of the animals shall take precedence over the demands of owners, sellers, buyers, organizers, sponsors, and officials.
  • The care of all animals must be as consistent as possible with their normal schedules and standards. High standards of nutrition, health, sanitation, environment and safety must be met at all times. All handling, housing and veterinary treatment must ensure adequate animal care.
  • Livestock should be prepared with proper training, fitting and grooming prior to filming the submission for the LEX. Excessive disciplining of animals at the LEX is unacceptable.
  • Exhibitors are expected to provide adequate training for anyone handling their livestock.
  • Exhibitors should take every opportunity to enhance public awareness, education and appreciation of proper livestock management and handling practices.

There will be no tolerance for any mistreatment of animals. Any unacceptable exhibitor conduct will be subject to action including possible elimination from the competition(s) and/or exhibit, at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the Lindsay Agricultural Society.

RULES & REGULATIONS

It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to read and fully understand the rules governing cattle at the Lindsay Exhibition.

  1. Due to the impact of COVID-19, we are unable to provide prize money for competitions at the 2020 Lindsay Exhibition. Virtual ribbons and placings will be awarded and results will be available online at www.lindsayex.com. NO ENTRY FEES are required for the livestock classes at the 2020 Lindsay Exhibition. However, in light of the present financial needs, voluntary donations are welcomed during entry submissions. All proceeds go to supporting the Lindsay Agricultural Society in 2020.

  3. THE LINDSAY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY reserves all rights to its show and may restrict or prohibit admittance to the show to any person or group of persons without giving reason for such action. Further, the Society may refuse the privilege of exhibiting to any individual without disclosing the reasons for such refusal.

The President, Vice-President or Manager shall be obliged to cause any exhibitor with reference to whom such doubt exists, to make satisfactory declaration of compliance with the terms of the said rule. If any person shall enter an article for exhibition as produced or manufactured by himself or herself when it has not really been so, he or she shall forfeit all prizes, which may be awarded to him, and shall be precluded from exhibiting in the future.

Distrubances on social media platforms are subject to the same consequences.
  8. FRAUD: Upon the discovery of fraud, deception, or dishonest practice, either in preparation, ownership, or of any misrepresentation concerning any article exhibited which may be affected, or may have been intended to affect the decision of the Judges, the Board of Directors shall have the power to withhold the payment of any prize awarded, and may prohibit any such party or parties from exhibition in any class for one or more years, and may publish the names of such persons or not as deemed most expedient.

PHOTO & VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Welcome to the first ever Virtual Lindsay Exhibition! We understand that a virtual exhibition is a new format for most of our exhibitors and may pose challenges for entry submissions. We created this section to help our exhibitors ensure that the photos and videos they submit properly represent the quality of their entries and enable the judges to view the entries in a similar manner as they would in person. Please be sure to view the Virtual Competition Resource Page on our website for examples of photo and video for livestock entries.

- Minimize background distractions- Any device with a camera can be used, make sure to focus your entry before taking the photo by taping the screen on a smartphone/tablet or lightly pressing the capture button on a digital camera- Mute all of your videos before submiting
- All videos/photos done in landscape view, if using a smartphone or tablet make sure to turn your device to a horizontal position before begining.- 1 photo per entry (side view)- Maximum of 1 minute
